Applicants with prior litigation experience are preferred.

CKT&F does not have a billable requirement. Instead, the firm’s volume of work drives each attorney’s workload. CKT&F maintains a high volume of work.
An associate may be elected to partner if they exhibit a strong commitment to representing the firm’s clients, pursue excellence in their own practice, strengthen and build the firm, enhance the practices of their colleagues, and improve the firm as an organization.
Associates’ salaries are set commensurate with experience, and they are competitive with the market. Every associate is eligible for a salary increase each year. Benefits for lawyers include:
- a stipend for work-related cellphone use;
- employer contribution to a 401(k) plan equal to 25% of the first 6% of salary contributed by you (vesting schedule applies);
- open enrollment is in June and December;
- employee-funded flexible spending arrangement that permits payment with pretax dollars of certain expenses for child care, transportation, and medical expenses;
- insurance coverage for health, dental, vision, life, and disability, available 60 days after the first day of the next month;
- two weeks paid vacation to start; and
- we pay attorneys’ dues for the State Bar and the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel.

Position: Litigation Attorney
CKTF seeks an attorney with civil litigation experience for our downtown Long Beach office. This position may be the right fit for the candidate who has been practicing for only a couple of years anywhere through the candidate who has been practicing for a couple of decades and is seeking to finish their career in a new practice area or simply surrounded by a new group of colleagues—either way, when you join CKTF you are joining a family, one that we strive to keep together for the long haul.
Our law firm specializes in professional liability defense. The firm’s range of expertise includes many related legal fields including medical malpractice, business litigation, health care law, legal malpractice defense, product liability, and managed care issues.
While CKTF’s practice areas are highly specialized and we recognize that you may require some guidance through the nuances of such specialized practice, we do expect that your prior litigation experience will have prepared you to assume an active case load from day one at our firm. You will hit the ground running with responsibilities that include propounding and responding to discovery, taking and defending depositions, drafting and appearing for law and motion, and client reporting. We are seeking attorneys who are proactive, analytical—and unafraid to dissent from custom and express their own ideas about how to approach a specific case or even an office protocol.
