Thomas Peabody is a partner with Carroll, Kelly, Trotter, Franzen, McBride & Peabody specializing in the defense of personal injury claims. For over 22 years, he has successfully represented clients against claims of professional/medical negligence, elder abuse, general liability, products liability, and sexual misconduct. Mr. Peabody practices out of both the San Diego and Long Beach offices, representing clients throughout Southern California.
A partner since 2001, Mr. Peabody is a Member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), has been selected by his peers as a “Super Lawyer” for several years, as well as a “Top Attorney in Southern California.” He has tried or arbitrated more than 30 cases to verdict, with several prominent verdicts featured in both legal and news publications. Mr. Peabody has been a featured presenter at the ABOTA “Masters in Cross Examination,” and is a frequent lecturer at various health care organizations on the issues of health care litigation, limiting risk and liability. He maintains an active role in the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel, the San Diego Defense League, and is also a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association. Mr. Peabody is admitted to practice in the State of California and the United States District Court, Southern District, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit.
Prior to joining the firm in 1996, Mr. Peabody was an associate at Baker, Silberberg and Keener after graduating from Loyola Law School, where he received the prestigious American Jurisprudence Award and was a Dean’s List recipient. Mr. Peabody received his undergraduate degree in History from Loyola Marymount University in 1991, where he was a scholarship athlete in men’s basketball, a three time NCAA Tournament participant, reaching the NCAA “Elite Eight” in 1990. His experience at Loyola Marymount was prominently featured in the ESPN documentary, “Guru of Go” (2010). Mr. Peabody received the 1990 Dodge NIT Student-Athlete Award, and he continues to donate his time to the development and guidance of student-athletes in both high school and college.
Outside his practice, Mr. Peabody enjoys spending time with his 4 kids, mountain biking, golfing and surfing.
