Professional Development & Expectations

We encourage the professional development and continuing education of our staff at all levels, as well as furthering opportunities for sharing their knowledge within local legal communities and associations.

  • We expect new associates to take advantage of the many opportunities available to develop their legal skills and their legal practice.
  • KT&F does not have a billable requirement. Instead, the firm’s volume of work drives each attorney’s workload.
  • KT&F maintains a high volume of work.
  • An associate may be elected to partner if they exhibit a strong commitment to representing the firm’s clients, pursue excellence in their own practice, strengthen and build the firm, enhance the practices of their colleagues, and improve the firm as an organization.

Compensation

Associates’ salaries are set commensurate with experience and are competitive with the market. Every associate is eligible for a salary increase each year.

Benefits include:

  • A stipend for work-related cellphone use
  • Employer contribution to a 401(k) plan equal to 25% of the first 6% of salary contributed by you (vesting schedule applies)
  • Insurance coverage for health, dental, vision, life, and disability, available 60 days after the first day of the next month
  • Open enrollment is in June and December
  • An employee-funded flexible spending arrangement that permits payment with pre-tax dollars of certain expenses for childcare, transportation, and medical expenses
  • Two weeks paid vacation to start
  • KT&F pays attorneys’ dues for the State Bar and the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel

    CURRENT EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

    Wanted for defense firm that specializes in medical malpractice and infant death birth injury cases. Duties include propounding & responding to discovery, taking & defending depositions, drafting & appearing for law and motion, consulting with medical experts, preparing expert discovery and client reporting, meeting with clients, drafting pleadings. Making court appearances. Participating in trials, interviewing witnesses. Must be licensed to practice law in California. Work can be performed remotely from anywhere in the State of California. 6 months experience required. Applicant must have knowledge of anatomy and medincine/medical issues. Travel within California when and if required for depositions. Salary: $86,403.00 per year.
